A news story

We were pleased to recently welcome Southport Patrick Hurley MP to our Southport office, where we’ve been delivering the Restart Scheme on behalf of our partner, G4S for just over a year. Mr Hurley had the opportunity to see how Get Set UK is supporting local job seekers into employment.
During his visit, Mr Hurley met our delivery team and observed the personalised support we provide to individuals facing long-term unemployment. He also spent time with participants, including younger job seekers engaged in a reverse marketing workshop, a hands-on session designed to build confidence, practice employer engagement, and develop job search strategies.
The visit included live CV reviews, group coaching, and mock interview preparation, offering a real insight into the day-to-day impact of our work and how our team is helping individuals overcome barriers and move closer to sustainable employment.
We’re now exploring opportunities to collaborate further with Mr Hurley’s team, through local job fairs and employer engagement events, to expand employment pathways across Southport.
Ian Lewis, Get Set UK North West Operations Manager, commented, “It was a pleasure to welcome Mr Hurley to our Southport office as part of our Employability Day celebrations and showcase both the impact of Get Set UK and the potential of the people we support, a powerful reminder of the purpose behind our work. We look forward to future collaboration that creates meaningful opportunities for Southport residents and to help them create a better tomorrow.”
A big thank you to Mr Hurley for his time and continued support for employment services in the region.
