Olivia Warner, aged 18, started an internship at Essex County Council (ECC) in Business Administration. She was referred to the Get Set for Work programme by her manager as she felt that Olivia needed some additional support as she has a diagnosis of autism and struggles with social skills and managing her anxiety.
Mia Furner, Get Set for Work Job Coach supported Olivia with her application for an Apprenticeship as she had enjoyed her internship with ECC so much. Together they wrote a cover letter, practiced her interview skills, and built her confidence as she was struggling with low self-esteem. After successfully securing the Apprenticeship, Mia provided Olivia with training and the tools she needed to help with her organisational and communication skills.
Mia Furner, Get Set for Work Job Coach commented: “I am very proud of how far Olivia has come, when I first started working with her, she lacked confidence in her ability and new situations, fast forward to now and she is doing amazing. From the very start, Olivia has taken all my advice and coaching on board and used it to improve her performance at work.”
“Having a member of Get Set with me while I have been working at ECC has been really reassuring in terms of having that extra support. When I started working for ECC I was very nervous, but Mia has really helped me through the whole thing, which allowed me to overcome any anxieties.”
