The Restart Scheme helps Hollie gain full-time employment and a maths GCSE!
Restart | 2 February 2024
Hollie Batchelor, aged 20, was referred to The Restart Scheme by her local Job Centre. Hollie had previously completed a hairdressing course at Crawley College and was struggling to find a role in this industry due to her lack of work experience and the effects of Covid-19.
Unable to find employment for over nine months was affecting Hollie’s health and wellbeing and this was creating a barrier to her finding employment. Her lack of motivation and struggles with her mental health put her in a mindset of ‘I’m not ready to work.’
Hollie sat down with her Employment Advisor, Marie Mandarin, who was able to create a plan to help her overcome these barriers. Marie suggested Hollie seek employment in an alternative industry to build her confidence and help her become financially stable. She enrolled Hollie on an anxiety workshop, helped her with CV tips and interview prep, and referred her to attend one of our Multiply courses to improve her confidence with numbers, where she then achieved a GCSE in maths.
With support from Marie, Hollie has now successfully gained employment with Iceland as a Retail Assistant, allowing Hollie to become more confident and financially stable.
“Get Set UK has helped me understand that if you cannot get your dream job, you should try opening yourself up to new opportunities and explore other options. Marie has helped me with my confidence and helped me believe in myself.”
