A news story
Event | 13 November 2024
Yesterday our CEO, Thomas Harley FIEP FRSA attended the launch of Earlybird’s report, Employment Support Services in the AI Era: Insights, Lessons and Advice from Leaders in the Sector, led by Claudine Adeyemi-Adams FIEP, CEO of Earlybird at the Resolution Foundation. This eye-opening event highlighted the real impact AI is set to have on employability services.
The report features insights from industry leaders, including a foreword by IEP Group CEO Scott Parkin FIEP FRSA, and introduces a new Artificial Intelligence for Employability course, accredited by the IEP—perfect for anyone looking to apply AI in meaningful ways across the sector.
Thomas joined a panel with sector leaders Liz Sewell FIEP and Bradley Ebsworth-Willis to discuss how AI can be effectively integrated into employability services. They emphasised keeping the customer at the centre of our work while also using AI to support the “forgotten heroes” of the sector, our customer-facing teams. By empowering our teams, we can enhance job satisfaction and address the day-to-day challenges they face in their demanding roles.
Key takeaways from the event were:
✦ AI enhances, not replaces: AI can streamline tasks, allowing employees more time to focus on meaningful client relationships. However, it should be applied thoughtfully to address specific needs.
✦ Data privacy and ethics are essential: AI’s power must be balanced with responsibility. Prioritizing GDPR compliance and fairness safeguards client trust and ethical standards.
✦ Human connection remains key: AI can personalise support, but it’s not a substitute for human touch – it should deepen our ability to connect and provide tailored help.
✦ Collaboration drives innovation: Embracing shared knowledge and best practices helps the sector adapt to AI faster and more effectively.
