Get Set for new beginnings. The Refugee Employability Programme supports Ebrahim’s career goals and community integration.
When Ebrahim Mohammadzadeh joined the Refugee Employability Programme (REP), he was focused on creating a better future for his young family. But like many refugees, he faced several barriers, from learning a new language to navigating housing and benefit systems.
To boost his employment prospects, REP Case Manager Wasim Durrani referred him to Barnfield College and enrolled him in our online ESOL course. Alongside this, Wasim developed a personalised self-study plan so Ebrahim could continue learning at home.
With a newborn to care for, Ebrahim also needed guidance on accessing child benefits. Wasim supported him step-by-step, ensuring his family received the help they were entitled to. When housing became a pressing issue, Wasim helped him through the entire process of applying for council accommodation, from understanding eligibility to gathering documentation.
Ebrahim shared his ambition to work in construction, so Wasim supported him in enrolling on a CSCS card training course. Together, they updated Ebrahim’s CV to reflect his skills and readiness to work. Now with his CSCS card in hand, he’s job-ready and full of confidence.
But Ebrahim’s goals didn’t stop there. He also dreamed of becoming his own boss. With Wasim’s support, he successfully registered an LTD company and has taken the first step towards running his own business.
Ebrahim’s journey is one of many success stories from our REP team, a testament to how personalised, practical support can empower refugees to build a secure and independent future in the UK.
