Kitty’s success story.

Kitty Wickramasuriya, 23, joined the Restart Scheme at our Havant office in April. With experience as a kiosk team member at Fratton Park, Kitty was eager to find more consistent work in the hospitality sector and develop the skills needed to progress in her career. 

To help her take the next step, Kitty ‘s Employment Advisor enrolled her on our Hospitality Skills Bootcamp, delivered on behalf of the Solent Growth Partnership, a fully funded, three-week course designed to equip learners with practical skills, confidence, and industry-recognised qualifications to help them step into hospitality roles with success.  

Throughout the programme, Kitty took part in interactive learning sessions, group discussions, and guided activities focused on Food Safety and Allergy Awareness, supported by Get Set UK Tutors, Dario Recchia, Lucy Purcell, and Holly Hayward. 

By the end of the Bootcamp, Kitty had successfully achieved her Level 2 qualifications in Food Safety and Allergy Awareness, strengthening both her technical knowledge and self-belief. 

Reflecting on her experience, Kitty said: “I have really enjoyed the course and being able to meet new people.” 

One of her Get Set UK Tutors added: “Kitty has made great progress through the Restart Programme and Hospitality Skills Bootcamp. She developed key hospitality skills, increased her confidence, and prepared for future opportunities within the sector. It’s been wonderful to see her thrive when collaborating with others.”
