Amin’s success story.

Amin Qayoomi was originally a former employee of the British Embassy in Afghanistan before being made to flee his home country due the ongoing conflict. Despite an impressive background, Amin was stripped of his familiar environment and professional identity alongside facing multiple language barriers and struggling to find a new role in the UK.

Amin was referred to Get Set UK by the Seetec Pluss Restart Scheme in Norwich. Abid Usmaan, his Case Manager, listened to the challenges he was facing and took a tailored approach to support his journey to employment.

Abid supported Amin by helping him develop him a new CV to showcase his prior experience and created several mock interviews as part of his preparation into UK work. Amin received practical support as well as an opportunity to voice his concerns and discuss the barriers he was experiencing.

With Abid’s support and Amin’s determination, Amin successfully secured a new full-time role. This was a pivotal turning point in his life, he commented: “This is a great opportunity for me, thank you so much.”
