What Skills Will I Gain?

As an apprentice, you’ll develop your skills through a mix of online workshops and personalised one-to-one support with a Get Set UK Learning Development Mentor and specialist trainers, covering:

  • Communicate effectively and use warehouse management systems in line with GDPR and cybersecurity rules.

  • Managing resources efficiently, recycling, and understanding the environmental impact of warehouse operations.

  • Warehouse processes for receiving, storing, picking, and dispatching goods, while spotting and reporting issues.

  • Stock rotation principles (FIFO, LIFO), conduct quality checks, and maintain accurate inventory records.

  • Safe working practices, including PPE, COSHH, risk assessments, and workplace safety regulations.

  • Using manual and powered equipment, with correct loading, unloading, and weight distribution.

What to Expect from
Your Employer.

Your employer must give you the chance to regularly put your learning into practice to help you build real workplace experience and develop the skills, knowledge, and behaviours you need to complete your Apprenticeship.

You will be supported with:

  • Gaining practical experience with manual and powered handling equipment, including proper operation and safety checks

  • Promoting resource efficiency, recycling, and waste management.

  • Taking part in processes from receiving to dispatching.

  • Building communication skills for teamwork and documentation.

  • Developing stock rotation, quality control, and inventory skills.

  • Completing risk assessments for safety compliance.

  • Training on warehouse management systems.

Completing Your Apprenticeship.

Every Apprenticeship ends with an End Point Assessment (EPA). This is your chance to show everything you’ve learned, the knowledge, skills, and behaviours you’ve built throughout your training. The EPA is carried out by an independent assessor and may include practical tasks, written tests, or an interview, depending on your Apprenticeship. Successfully passing your EPA proves your competence and earns you a recognised qualification, setting you up for the next stage in your career.
