Data technicians work across all sectors to collect, format, and present data securely for analysis. They support business outcomes by handling data, following legal and ethical guidelines, and communicating insights to colleagues, managers, and other stakeholders.

What Skills Will I Gain?

As an apprentice, you’ll develop your skills through a mix of online workshops and personalised one-to-one support with a Get Set UK Learning Development Mentor and specialist trainers, covering:

  • Analysis of both simple and complex structured and unstructured data using basic statistical methods to support business outcomes.

  • How to communicate results verbally, through reports, and technical documentation, tailoring the message for the audience.

  • Validation of the results of data analysis using techniques such as cross-checking to identify faults and ensure data quality.

  • The importance of data security and the methods for collecting data safely.

  • Best practices and company procedures to organise data effectively.

  • Presenting data for review using various mediums.

What to Expect from
Your Employer.

Your employer must give you the chance to regularly put your learning into practice to help you build real workplace experience and develop the skills, knowledge, and behaviours you need to complete your Apprenticeship.

You will be supported with:

  • Regularly sourcing data from trusted, secure sources while staying compliant with company and legal standards.

  • Combining data from multiple sources, ensuring accuracy and consistency.

  • Double-checking results to spot and fix errors, ensuring data quality.

  • Preparing and formatting data so it’s ready for review and deeper analysis.

  • Using basic statistics to analyse data and support informed business decisions.

  • Sharing insights through clear reports, visuals, and conversations.

  • Presenting information clearly using charts, tables, and graphs.

Completing Your Apprenticeship.

Every Apprenticeship ends with an End Point Assessment (EPA). This is your chance to show everything you’ve learned, the knowledge, skills, and behaviours you’ve built throughout your training. The EPA is carried out by an independent assessor and may include practical tasks, written tests, or an interview, depending on your Apprenticeship. Successfully passing your EPA proves your competence and earns you a recognised qualification, setting you up for the next stage in your career.
