Construction and Engineering Apprenticeships
Level 2 Bricklayer.

A Bricklaying Apprenticeship is the first step into a hands-on, rewarding career in construction, with no experience needed. Apprentices will learn how to lay bricks, seal foundations, use specialist tools, and build safe, durable structures from the ground up.

What Skills Will I Gain?

As an apprentice, you’ll develop your skills through a mix of online workshops and personalised one-to-one support with a Get Set UK Learning Development Mentor and specialist trainers, covering:

  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations, including CoSHH, fire safety, and working in confined spaces or heights.

  • Communication techniques, construction terminology, principles of team work and advocating for inclusion and diversity.

  • Principles of building fundamentals such as foundations, roofs, insulations and damp proof course.

  • The correct skills for using and maintaining hand and power tools safely.

  • Efficient use of recycling, and safe waste disposal.

  • Construction techniques and repair methods.

What to Expect from
Your Employer.

Your employer must give you the chance to regularly put your learning into practice to help you build real workplace experience and develop the skills, knowledge, and behaviours you need to complete your Apprenticeship.

You will be supported with:

  • Conducting safety checks and risk assessments to maintain a safe working environment.

  • Managing waste disposal through recycling and safe handling of hazardous materials.

  • Diagnosing faults and completing minor repairs on plumbing, drainage, and electrical systems.

  • Assisting in the construction and maintenance of building foundations, roofs, and structural elements.

  • Selecting, inspecting, and maintaining tools and equipment.

  • Communicating effectively with teams and clients.

Completing Your Apprenticeship.

Every Apprenticeship ends with an End Point Assessment (EPA). This is your chance to show everything you’ve learned, the knowledge, skills, and behaviours you’ve built throughout your training. The EPA is carried out by an independent assessor and may include practical tasks, written tests, or an interview, depending on your Apprenticeship. Successfully passing your EPA proves your competence and earns you a recognised qualification, setting you up for the next stage in your career.
