Empowering growth through workplace wellbeing.
The Good Health @Work programme (GH@W) helps small and medium-sized businesses across Suffolk embed meaningful workplace wellbeing practices. Funded by Suffolk County Council and delivered by Get Set UK, the Award framework supports employers to build happier, healthier teams while working towards Bronze, Silver and Gold recognition.
When Rebecca Garrod launched her reflexology and wellness business, Valvaere, in 2023, wellbeing was already central to her purpose. But like many small business owners, she faced challenges around time management, setting boundaries, and putting formal policies in place, particularly for a new project supporting neurodiverse and disabled children. She was also looking to build confidence, expand her services, and find practical ways to scale sustainably.
Turning ambition into action with GH@W support
With personalised guidance from GH@W Advisor Lin Smith, the programme provided tailored tools and encouragement to align Rebecca’s values with structured business growth. Key areas of support included:
✔ Development of a business plan and a 90-day action plan to increase focus and accountability
✔ Templates and advice to establish formal policies and a staff handbook
✔ Sustainability planning, including a refillable packaging incentive scheme for clients
✔ Practical input to help progress community partnerships, including new projects with Christies Care and Lighthouse
✔ Confidence-building conversations that unlocked new ideas and gave clarity on next steps
Thanks to this structured support, Rebecca is now progressing through the Bronze Award and is already seeing a positive impact on her business planning, client engagement and personal motivation.
