Nicola’s success story.

At 41, Nicola Brown came to our Get Set UK office in Camberwell as she was struggling to find a job, felt depressed and was lacking motivation and self-belief. After discussing her barriers to employment Nicola was enrolled on our Skills for Work Customer Service course and was given a personalised plan to help her improve her employability and refine her CV, improve her interview skills, and learn how to approach her job search positively.

With guidance from her Get Set UK Employability Tutor, Mark Phoenix, Nicola gradually regained her confidence and began to believe in her ability to succeed in the job market. Whilst on the course, Nicola connected with other learners, shared experiences and built a supportive network which gave her the confidence to apply for a job. To her delight, she has now secured a role as an Executive Officer with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
