Building a healthier business. Suffolk entrepreneur Jonathan Fussell commits to workplace wellbeing with not one, but two Good Health @Work Award journeys.
Jonathan Fussell, founder of two Suffolk-based businesses, joined the Good Health @Work programme with a simple goal – see what the Bronze Award could do for his team, his business and his workplace culture.
From the outset, Jonathan recognised that mental and physical wellbeing were not only vital for his work-life balance, but also for building stronger, more engaged teams and delivering better outcomes for his clients.
Mapping the journey with expert Navigator Support.
Jonathan worked closely with GH@W Navigator Gail Jones, who guided him through the Good Health @Work standards. After completing an Organisational Health Assessment, they identified opportunities to align his photography business, Fussell Photography, with the programme standards required for achieving a GH@W Award.
The process helped Jonathan take a deeper look at how wellbeing connects to every part of his work, from leadership values and team engagement to everyday business practices. With Gail’s support, he developed a clear action plan, setting his sights well beyond a Bronze Award.
Going for Gold-twice.
Inspired by the positive impact of the programme, Jonathan decided to enrol his second business, Bythcott Database Services Limited, in the GH@W Award and has committed to achieving Gold status for each.
By embracing the programme’s full potential, Jonathan is embedding long-term wellbeing strategies that go beyond tick-box compliance. His approach is proactive, ambitious, and built around making meaningful changes that benefit everyone, from employees and collaborators to the clients they serve.
Leading by example.
Jonathan’s journey highlights how small businesses can make big commitments to wellbeing. His decision to lead both companies through to Gold status shows that investing in people isn’t just good for morale – it’s good for business too. Jonathan commented, “I just wanted to see what the Bronze Award could do for me, my team and business culture. But, as I delved deeper into the standards and saw how much it resonated with my values, I knew I wanted to go all in for both businesses.”
With both businesses now working towards Gold status, Jonathan hopes to inspire other local employers to invest in their teams and prioritise health and wellbeing. “It’s not just about business success,” he says, “it’s about making a difference in the lives of the people who help you achieve it.”

“It’s not just about business success, it’s about making a difference in the lives of the people who help you achieve it. The programme has given me the structure, support, and inspiration to take both businesses forward in a more positive, healthy way.”
