Sylvanie Aumeer, aged 44, was referred to the Restart Scheme by her Work Coach. She was facing several barriers that were stopping her from finding employment; a language barrier, financial hardship, a lack of confidence and uncertainty in where to start with her job search.
To begin with, Sylvanie didn’t have any Right to Work documentation so her Employment Advisor, Marie Mandarin helped her to secure a Citizen’s card. Once registered on the NCS, she was referred to ESOL classes to help improve her English speaking and listening skills. The goal was to boost Sylvanie’s confidence in communicating with potential employers and also to help her create a CV. In preparation for future interviews, Sylvanie attended interview workshops to improve her confidence further and help her prepare for the interview she secured with the help of Ahamed, a Get Set Employee Relationship Manager Marie also arranged for financial support for new interview clothing and travel expenses.
With the support of the Get Set team, Sylvanie now feels that she has been able to overcome the challenges she was facing. Her confidence has improved since attending the interview technique workshop. The ESOL classes are helping her improve her English communication skills and having secured her Citizen card she can confidently look for work. Her long-term goal is to find sustainable employment and to become financially stable. Sylvanie has booked onto our job networking sessions, which run every Friday, to give her additional support in her job search and Marie has been helping her prep for an upcoming interview with Dnata Catering UK.
“Marie has been understanding and patient towards me and my current situation. She has helped me overcome the obstacles and barriers I was facing and has gone above and beyond to support me in finding work. I am very grateful and thankful for her support.”
