Faraz Ahmed, 23, from Pakistan, faced the challenge of fleeing to the UK in March 2022 and claiming asylum. His journey to seeking employment in the UK is an inspiring one.
Faraz’s journey to employment began due to his determination to establish a new life in the UK. However, he encountered several obstacles, including difficulties in writing cover letters and job applications, interview preparation, interview clothes, even access to transportation for work.
Fortunately, Faraz recently took advantage of the new REP service through Get Set UK. We provided him with guidance throughout the job application process, leading to him successfully applying for his first job in the UK.
As a refugee, Faraz required assistance in crafting appealing cover letters, refining his resume, and improving his job search skills. Throughout our partnership, Faraz remained highly motivated, driving us forward with each meeting. During these sessions, we tracked our progress.
Together, we diligently improved his cover letter, making sure it was not only flawless but also error-free. Faraz also enhanced his interview skills and actively applied for jobs. What truly impressed me was his unwavering commitment and positive attitude in each appointment, illuminating our journey.
As he recalls: “I was very surprised! I thought that I did very well in the interview as I got a lot of preparation. They gave me a call and offered me the job, I was excited. I told my family about the job, and they were pleased.”
Faraz’s journey illustrates the profound impact that the right support and determination can have on a person’s life. He excitedly shared the news with us recently: “I am starting my new job tomorrow.”
Lyz Stepanishyna, REP Case Manager, said: “I had the pleasure of working alongside a young refugee who sought my help in finding a job. Our collaboration revolved around tackling specific challenges, including boosting his confidence. Initially, Faraz felt nervous about interviews, lacked suitable clothing, and needed interview preparation.
