A success story

Punita’s success story.

Read about a JETS participant who has been out of work for a long time and what we have done for her in the last three months.

JETS | 14 December 2022

What was Punita’s situation?

Punita was referred to the JETS programme three months ago by her JobCentre Plus work coach. She has been unemployed for nearly four years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the need to care for her children and home.

When the participant first met with her Employment Advisor Chelsea, she stated that the quality of her CV was one of the main barriers preventing her from receiving responses from companies and finding a new job. She then asked our expert to help her with her CV and teach her how to use the various job websites.

How did Get Set UK help?

Punita and Chelsea identified the key objectives and transferable skills and developed a tailored action plan to ensure all areas of support were covered. This would allow the participant to move closer to employment and secure interviews. Punita has always provided a clear understanding of what was expected of her prior to the appointment. Following the review of her CV, the participant began to feel more confident in applying for new job opportunities. She has had many phone interviews, but because she has childcare responsibilities, she has found it difficult to secure face-to-face interviews. Our Advisor then decided to assist the participant in identifying some companies that would provide her with more opportunities, particularly for part-time roles that would fit Punita’s daily schedule.

The participant has been with us for over three months, and thanks to our assistance and Chelsea’s guidance, she is receiving more and more responses and has been invited to many face-to-face interviews. She is extremely grateful to her Employment Advisor for all of her assistance so far. She is more confident, and we are convinced she will find a new job soon.

“Chelsea has been and is a fantastic employment advisor. She is so supportive and very professional, too. She considers the job roles that I am looking for and, hence, informs me of job roles that are suited to my expertise and requirements. Whenever I converse with Chelsea, she always speaks in a lovely manner. She is polite, friendly, approachable, and courteous too. Chelsea, in my opinion, also goes above and beyond to extend her support and assistance regarding job seeking, as I have asked her on occasion to forward my CV and speak to the companies too, regarding the jobs that I want to put my CV forward for.

Prior to joining this scheme, I was skeptical. However, now that I’ve been conversing and liaising with Chelsea, I feel like it’s a great scheme that has been put into practice to provide support for job seeking. I will recommend it to others whom I know who are looking for employment. Chelsea, due to her being so nice and great, has made this process of seeking employment easier for me. I am so thankful to Chelsea for all the support, tips, and advice she gives. In my opinion, Chelsea is a great asset to the company, and employment advisors like her give the company a great reputation. If the company does give out rewards to the employment advisors, then I would surely agree and ask if Chelsea can be given a reward for all that she is doing for the company and her fabulous employment advisory service!”
