What was Jordan’s situation?
Jordan Winter, who lives in East Grinstead, joined the Restart Scheme on December 16, 2021. When he first enrolled in the programme, his main barrier was child-care duties. He was actively looking for part-time work, but lacked the necessary skills and knowledge to find and apply for these positions.
He had no idea that in some positions, he would have been able to work from home and still care for his children.
The participant began working with his Employment Advisor Matteo to create a new CV and cover letter, as well as learning how to search for job opportunities and fill out online applications. Jordan had the opportunity to improve his IT skills at Get Set UK, which he could use in his future job.
He was always on time, very active during his appointments, and eager to learn more. His attitude impressed our colleague, who was working hard to assist Jordan in starting a new life. Matteo, for example, informed him of available child care assistance and other opportunities to help him and his family.
How did Get Set UK help?
Jordan has now returned to work as a result of his determination and the assistance of our experts. Despite learning new IT skills, he found a perfect role for him doing general maintenance, which is similar to his previous job. The hours are extremely flexible, allowing Jordan to provide the best possible care for his children.
The participant required assistance with a few tools and boots in order to return to work. Get Set UK was able to provide him with all of the equipment he required to get back to work.
As part of our In-work support, we will continue to work with Jordan, and he is aware that Get Set UK can provide phone or email appointments and support him at any time.
The participant expressed his appreciation for the assistance provided by Get Set UK and the Restart Scheme, and he is especially grateful for the assistance provided by his Employment Advisor. He learned a lot during his time at Get Set UK, and he now feels more confident and skilled, with the main goal of continuing to advance in his current role.
