Favour had lost her job during the pandemic and was upset, but with our guidance, she now has a job she likes.

What was Favour’s situation?
Favour had been out of work for a long time when she joined the Restart Scheme. She was having difficulty finding a new sustainable job, and her applications were frequently going unanswered. Favour couldn’t understand the reason and began to wonder if she’d ever find work again, and she wasn’t sure what job she wanted to do.
She had previously worked as a cleaner, but she lost her job due to the pandemic, and our Employment Advisor Anoop assisted her in reflecting on her interests and skills in order to identify specific job goals.
How did Get Set UK help?
Following the first meeting, our colleague started working with the participant to assist her in writing a tailored CV for each job for which she wished to apply. She was also encouraged to use the STAR technique to answer interview questions and was given a speaking frame to assist her in preparing. Favour’s enthusiasm and willingness to work impressed her Employment Advisor during her mock interview. Despite this, Favour was concerned about the gap in her CV because she had lost her previous job due to the pandemic.
Favour attended various recruitment workshops and began working as a steward while we waited for her SIA badge. Despite the fact that she started to work for Ostrada as a steward on a zero-hours contract, Favour knew she could find a job that provided her with more security.
With recent employment experience on her CV, Favour’s confidence grew, and it wasn’t long before she started working as a cleaner at Aston Services Group Ltd. As part of her In-Work support, Get Set UK has assisted Favour with her travel expenses since she began working.
Favour is enjoying her new job so much that she wants to increase her working hours. She is utilising all the skills she learned from her Employment Advisor to secure a couple of interviews for a second job each week. She hopes to start a new second job as a security officer once her SIA licence is approved.
