The participant was 46 years old and was having a difficult time finding a new job due to his right to work documents and Passport. He came to our Crawley office hoping that we could assist him with his documentation and support him in finding a new sustainable job. Jean had worked in a variety of industries, including hospitality and construction, and wanted to find work at Gatwick Airport.
Our advisor, Matteo, met with Jean and tried to learn more about his background, goals, and challenges. The first thing he decided to do was assist the participant with his documents, specifically his passport. Matteo guided the participant in filling out all of the necessary paperwork and accompanied him to the Post Office, where he paid for all expenses. Following that, we began explaining how to look for a new job and offered him some helpful advice. To facilitate him with his job search, Get Set UK provided Jean with a smartphone through which he could apply for jobs online.
Jean was able to secure a job at Marks & Spencer in Gatwick thanks to the Restart Scheme and the assistance of his Employment Advisor, Matteo. When he started working, we helped him by providing £60 for transportation and £60 for new clothes. We will continue to work with the participant as part of his In-Work support because his primary goal is to progress from part-time to full-time in the future.
The participant recently stated that he is very happy, that he enjoys his new job, and that his mental health has significantly improved.
