What was Salah’s situation?
Raymond was referred to Get Set UK 5 months ago and was assigned to our Redbridge office advisor Kiran. Unfortunately, he had lost his job as a result of the Covid 19 pandemic and was having a difficult time. He had more than three decades of experience in the warehousing industry, and made redundant had a significant impact on his confidence.
Raymond had been unable to independently apply for jobs and create his own CV due to various barriers, and this was the first thing he mentioned to our Employment Advisor. As a result of being laid off and the national lockdown, the customer gained some weight, which harmed his confidence and led him to believe that his weight would dissuade employers. With Kiran’s encouragement and support, he sought help from his GP, who referred him to a Weight Management Programme.
How did Get Set UK help?
Raymond became more proactive in his job search as his confidence grew and with the assistance of our expert. The customer met with Kiran four times per week and applied for multiple jobs during each session. Kiran then introduced Raymond to Mohammed, one of our Employment Relationship Manager, who secured an interview and work trial with an East London warehouse after spending time getting to know the participant’s strengths and transferable skills.
Raymond attended the Work Trial, which was followed by an interview. He was successful in the selection process and began working the following day.
