Creating a safe environment with ESOL cafe classes.

We like to do things differently at Get Set UK and offer services that suit our learners’ needs. Our Walthamstow office is running a weekly ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Café Class. Wahida Jahan, one of our Employment Advisors, is hosting personalised sessions for individuals with limited English language, combined with a lack of self-esteem and confidence.

Wahida has created a safe space which focuses on work-related activities including job searching and help with job applications. These sessions not only help our learners look for work; they also allow them to put into practice their verbal and written communication skills and meet other people in similar positions. Weekly homework challenges are provided as part of the sessions which include mock job applications and essential spellings allowing our learners to do independent work-related activities.

These learners have really bonded and now call themselves the ESOL Family! We have had three successful job starts from these weekly workshops already. Well done Wahida and the Walthamstow ESOL Family.
